Back in the 1800’s, a gentleman named Basil Hayden gained notoriety for his unique bourbon distilled with a higher rye content. This recipe and passion for distilling was passed down through the generations, and in 1840 The Hayden Family officially became a commercial distillery. It was at this time that the family recipe bottling was officially dubbed “Old Grand-Dad” – an homage to Basil Hayden himself. This bourbon is spicy and rich with characteristic notes of tobacco and pepper combined with soft vanilla, caramel, and warm tobacco.
