“The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru is a blend of Les Pitures and Les Mitans as usual. It has an attractive dark cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet with fine mineralité, though not powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, cohesive dark berry fruit with hints of cola and a dash of spice towards the finish. Excellent. There is a gentle crescendo here that I admire.
