“The 2014 Charmes-Chambertin from Domaine Rousseau may compete favorably with the 2005 and 2010 versions here, which remain the single finest young vintages of this bottling I have ever tasted from the domaine. The 2014 is a stunning young example, delivering a superb constellation of sappy black cherries, plums, fraises du bois, mustard seed, espresso, beautiful soil tones and just a touch of cedar in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, fullbodied and of course, sappy at the core (this is a 2014 Rousseau wine after all!), with exceptional focus and grip, lovely complexity, ripe tannins and outstanding length and grip on the tangy and very, very soil-driven finish. A brilliant bottle of Charmes. 2025-2075.”
